BSAR was founded in 1981 and has been serving the community of Barriere and the surrounding areas since. We are a registered volunteer not-for-profit organization (Society S0022973) made up of dedicated Ground Search and Rescue volunteers.

BSAR responds in a variety of terrain from the western plateaus of Bridge Lake, to the eastern mountains of Adams Lake, and from Heffley Creek south to Little Fort north in all types of weather conditions.

BSAR operates 24 hours in a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year when dispatched by an official tasking agency or by calling 911 to aid in searching for and/or rescuing lost or missing people, or people in distress, in the backcountry wilderness or urban surroundings.
To serve Barriere and our surrounding communities through skilled, safe, and compassionate volunteer search and rescue—protecting lives, helping those in need, and strengthening community resilience through preparedness, education, and outdoor safety.
